Movies I've Seen
- Terminator Salvation - bleh. Too many explosions, not enough sex which means it's not in my favorite sub-genre of action movies, sexplosion.
- Religious - I don't want to sound too pretentious or anything but all the things talked about in this movie I have already thought about before. I feel like I could hold my own in a chat with Bill Maher. But if you're one who doesn't think about religion then this movie is a must.
- The Spirit - Cooooool movie. Very entertaining. Most comic like movie ever.
- Chocolate - Not Chocolat. Chocolate. It's a Thai movie. An autistic girl tries to get the money that is owed to her cancer-ridden mother by using the marital arts that she has gained by watching Tony Jaa (Ong Bak and Tom Yum Goong) movies. So yeah. A Tony Jaa movie but with a cute girl beating up the bad guys.
- Baby Mama - Tina Fey is DA BEST. She's super funny and super HOTTT. Even thogh the two stars, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, are SNL people, it didn't seem like a long drawn out SNL skit. And there weren't any super outrageous parts that were guarenteed to make you roflcopter but it was still super good just from the dialouge and acting. This might be a movie that I would want the dvd for.
- Domino - Hell yeah. I love it in movies when it's a person telling the whole story who has already been captured and they're telling it in some interrogation room and the interrogator is all like, "But then what about...?" and then the person is all like, "I wasn't done yet." Domino is played by Kiera Knightley, who is a badass bounty hunter and gets herselft into a bunch of shenanigans. This is another dvd that I wouldn't mine owning.
- Jesus Camp - A documentary on Evangelicals. I don't know what to say about this except how intense these kids are. I liked it because it didn't put down Christianity as a whole but only a particular sect. Just how I would want to talk to Bill Maher about religion, I would also want to do the same to these kids.
- The Counterfeiters - A history movie, SWEET! This movie is based on Operation Bernhard. It was when the Nazi's attempted to destablize the British economy by flooding it with counterfeit money. And who did all the counterfeiting? The well payed German auristocrats? No, the imprisoned Jews of course. Not one my favorite Euorpean front WWII movies but it's cool how it brings this otherwise unknown operation to light.
- District B13 - A French action movie. Pretty badass. Has a lot of free running, parkour in Furancay.
- The Outliers - Third book by Malcolm Gladwell, author of Blink and Tipping Point. This book takes a different approach on how we view success. Success is gained through hard work and individual acts. Success is not handed to you on a silver platter. Gladwell argues that success and the opposite, failure, depends more on the external circumstances, things that we can not control. Like how many NHL stars are born in the same 3 months. How a majority of histories richest people were born in the same generation. How language hierachies was the reason that Korean Air had the most accidents out of any airline company. Etcetera etcetera. It's a quick read too, soooo go read it.
- Thumbsuckers
- A Scanner Darkly
- Sex is Zero
- Communist Manifesto
- The Gnostics
- The Korean Language
Yea, except "star NHL player" is an oxymoron. BTdub Domino and Religulous and The Spirit suck.
ReplyDeleteChocolate was so great.
