No, it's not some kind of Japan bashing joke. I just want to know if everyone simple takes it off and drops it onto the ground like me. So yeah, I am currently staying at the Sansuiso Ryokan in Gotanda. It's pretty sweet; very quaint and Japanese. Four and a half tatami mat sized room which is just big enough to fit a futon, my 2 bags, little table and corner tv stand. I really like this place a lot and hope to stay here again if I ever come back to Tokyo.
Today was a SUPER good day based soley on the fact that I wasn't drenched in sweat at all. The sun wasn't too intense and there was a light breeze all day. That being said, I'm running out of clean clothes to wear. It's not like in SF where I can wear a white t-shirt for a couple of days before it even becomes remotely dirty. The first thing I usually do when I return to my accommadation, even when I was staying with ben, is strip to my boxers and blast the ac while fanning myself with a folder or something. I think that I could ask one of my friends to use their washer but I think I'm going to go to the one that's close to here and try and decipher the kanji and do it myself. And if anything, I can just ask for help. When they ignore me because I am certain that they will, I'll throw a pair of sweat soaked boxers at their face. And then they'll throw up. And then. . . ahhhh how I wish my friends were here!
I haven't climbed Mt. Fuji yet. I'm starting to worry that I won't. Apparently recently, 2 climbers died on the descent from hypothermia. Coupled with my friends personal accounts and the fact that I would be by myself, sucks too. So now, everyone new person that I meet who can speak English, I suggest Mt. Fuji. Hopefully, I can gather a bunch of naive, ill prepared foreigners to accompany me sometime before I leave.
ANOTHER THOUGHT. I find that I really like trying to pretend that I actually live in the city. I guess not doing touristy things. Most of the time, I want to go to a bookstore and read manga or magazines or go to a arcade to play street fighter or walk around some cool place and take pictures. Notice, those things don't really require money. I rather eat convenient stores or food chain places than nice restaurants. AGAIN, my frugality shows. I find myself walking to places with a look of purpose rather than gawking at all the signs and lights. Man, I'm such a poser.
LAST THOUGHT. Ben left Japan today. Can you believe that he was here for a whole year?! Besides gonig to Korea for a little bit, he never left Japan. I think that's crazy. He's my only friend that I know who studied abroad for so long. So jealous of his experience. We didn't sleep at all last night because we were just talking about everything. I felt so sad for him and all of the friends that he made who were never going to be all together in Japan again. He seriously befriended some of the coolest and funniest people that I will ever meet. Hahaha, it's funny because I seriously barely even knew anyone but still would get sad when they would say their goodbyes to each other. I don't know why but everytime I think about Ben studying abroad here, it drives even more to do something when I graduate. Like a lot. I don't remember the last time I wanted to do something so badly. I hope to teach abroad. Either through some exchange teaching program like JET for Japan or EPIK for Korea or to just do it through Peacecore. But the only thing that worries me is paying my goddamm student loans. Ugh.
I forgot to add to my last update that I am going to get good grades and pass my classes at Sophia University. THERE MOM! jeezzz. . .
