Back to my log. . .

8/02

Yaaaaa, Sunday. No school. Yeah, I know I said before that I have school everyday but I was wrong and was probably talking out of my ass. So my day started at 8:50 when my alarm went off. I woke up early to take a shower since my room doesn't have a bathroom I use the shared one which is only open in the morning and evening hours. After that I went back to bed until 1 when I was woken up by a call from my mom and Diane. After that I went back to sleep again until 2 just because. The first thing I did was go look for the laundromat which ended up being closer than I thought. I had breakfast/lunch at one of my favorite places to eat, Sukiya. It's a donburi place like Yoshinoyas. I have no idea why both of those chains have not opened up any places in Hawaii. It would be super super popular. I got a unatama donburi tofu setto which is just an unagi donburi with a like soft boiled egg on top of it and tofu and miso on the side. It must be noted that I have not eaten sushi here yet. I just rather eat at these kind of places or convenient store food. Uhhh, after I ate I got my clothes and went to the laundromat. To my dismay, all the washers were full. But really, what can you expect when there were only 4 of them. I just waited and read outside. It was kind of cheap for Tokyo standards, $2.50 to wash and $1 for every 10 minutes to dry. In a couple of hours I left with my clean clothes. After that I. . . cleaned up my room and since I haven't had internet for so long, I decided to go to the manga cafe that was close by. I wouldn't have even found it if it weren't for me trying to read all the bright neon signs all over the place. At first I just ignored them and thought they were too much but now I realized that without them no one would know what the hell was in all the billion story buildings. I ended up staying for over and hour and it was soooooooooo cool. Because space and privacy is such a luxury in Tokyo many people have to go outside of there homes to relax. Manga cafes are usually open 24 hours and you pay by the half an hour. You go in and they give you a receipt with the time that you came in and you go and hang out in a booth or cubicle for as long as you like. No duh there's a bunch of manga, comics. The walls are basically bookshelves floor to ceiling filled with manga. But there's also movies, video games, and porn. It's also all you can eat and drink so you can really get your moneys worth. I'm not sure why but the booth that I was in had two computers. I guess for couples? This makes me sound really nerdy but it was really cool and I am going to back again before I have to check out of this Ryokan and into the other one. After that I ate dinner at. . . umm. . First?. . convenience kitchen?. . something like that. Super good shrimp wrap with jagabata fries and tapioca greentea float. I didn't want to go back to the Ryokan yet so I decided to walk around for a bit. It started to rain pretty hard but it didn't bother me that much. I ran into these hip hop dancers practicing in front of a reflective office building. I remembered before, seeing a guy dancing in the train station after that trains had stopped running and Ben told me that, because of the scarcity of space again, groups usually practice there because it's so bright and spacious. And now I'm here exploring what this tiny room has to offer me. I hadn't noticed to look into this container on this little table until a little while ago. Inside is a teapot, tea leaves, a cup and crackers. And this pitcher, which I thought was empty, is full of hot water. Idk how it stays hot since it's not plugged in and I blast the air con but it is. I gots school tomorrow and I'll be up at 6:30am. Hopefully I'll do enough things to make me want to tell other people in non-Japanland how my day was.

Recently, I've been falling asleep to music. I don't really have that much on this hard drive but I find myself listening to either The National or Fleet Foxes. Those who know them and those who will listen to them will understand. They're both perfect night time music. I remember last summer, when I was in LA with Kevin, music of choice was The National for the long night drives back to Kevin's house. That is, only if we didn't think that we were going to fall asleep.
