Umm, it's 8:30am and I'm in Ben's messy ass dorm room. It's just as messy as the last time I was here in March. Looking around is fun as it's just comical at how messy it is. A pile of magazines. Millions of ripped off clothing price tags. Shelves which could hold some of this mess are completely empty. Stray pubes all over the place. Dead mouse in the empty rice pot on the ground. Piles upon piles upon piles upon piles of clothes. AND YET, before we left last night to go out, Ben opened a brand new shirt to wear that night. I could seriously, stare at the wall and through the corner of my eye, find at least 3 t shirts. Hilariously lazy. I couldn't stop laughing. But I still wouldn't want to stay anywhere else.
So yeah, sorry for not updating while in Kyoto. I had so many thoughts going through my head and I would make a mental note every time but during the end of the day, I wouldn't be able to choose what to talk about and I didn't want to just rant because I would've went on for forever. But Kyoto, was a good experience. Comparing it to Tokyo would be like comparing Hawaii to San Francisco, I would not be able to choose between the two. There just too different. I kind of wanted to stay longer but I really wanted to come up to Tokyo and see Ben and all his friends.
Shinkansen, bullet train, is over rated. If you've rode a train before then it'll be exactly the same. Sure the scenery is nice, but most of the time it reminded me of home so I wasn't that amazed. It was like driving on H3 or something. And I guess it's fast, going from Kyoto to Tokyo in a couple of hours. But when you think about it, Japan is about the size of California. And I'm too lazy to google it but Kyoto to Tokyo felt like Los Angeles to San Francisco. HOLY, I'M SUCH A GOOD GUESSTIMATER. Yeah, I googled it and LA to SF is only about 20 miles shorter.
Oh man, last night I hung out with Ben and his friends. Saw Alan Hudson. Fricking Alan. But yeah, it was the last time that Ben was going to see two of his friends in Japan. SO SAD THEIR FAREWELL! And then it made me think, well I was thinking about this in Kyoto too since Courtney's dorm had a lot of international people but yeah. It's just cool that people who study abroad meet and become friends with people from different countries. Like not necessarily, for example, native Japanese people. But people from all over the world who also have some kind of common interest in Japan, meeting and becoming friends. Ben always tells me about people from abroad who are really cool and Courtney hung out with a lot of Australian and Europeans. And I'm talking about everyone who studies abroad everywhere. It made me feel so constricted, I guess jealous. Like there are so many people in the world and I bet there are so many who I could be life long friends with or find a wife or two, but because of distance and language and cultures and etc, you just won't get to meet those people. Idk. Too many people in the world and I want to meet all the ones that I think are cool. Know what I mean?
Not sure what I'm doing today. Ben is ditching me and going to Chiba for the whole day. Time to bust out my keitai, cell phone, and contact all handful of the numbers that I have.
Here's some pictures from Arashiyama.
You guys make me want to go into debt.
