Just four dudes hanging out in the living room, trying to figure out how to play more shows before I leave in August. You'd think it'd be easy to play house shows, but it kind of sucks when we're all not in school anymore and we're all lazy as fuck.

I've decided to move back to Hawaii when the lease runs out in August. Kind of nuts, ya? I think so. I'm doing it, whatever. I don't want to digress. I feel a lot of things because of it.

I meant to update this thing a while ago when I got a text from mom saying, "Update your blog." I swear I had a lot of things to say, but now I can't think of any. I have to be in the mood I guess. I think it's cause I'm announcing to the internet world what I plan to do in August. It's blocking my brain from operating normally. I've told my friends whenever I see them but this is different. So weird how the internet influences me like this. So ya, sorry mom this is a shitty post. The pictures are from an assignment for my photo class. The camera is fine and I already thanked Tricia for lending it to me. Don't worry.

I've been trying to keep up with all the stuff going on in Japan. It is crazy. Because of power outages, the nuclear plant's cooling systems have shut off resulting in ocean water being needed to prevent a meltdown. Possible radioactive contamination for people in Tokyo. Still searching for survivors amid the rubble and now SNOW! Refugees. Public distrust in the government (though a given for any kind of disaster). It's crazy. They estimate the death toll to be at least 15,000. I think the most recent U.S. disasters were Katrina and 9/11, and their combined death toll was about 5,000. I think what makes it the most crazy is that it's Japan. Richest Asian nation. Technology comes from Japan, man. At first I was like, "Japan will be fine. It's Japan!" But looking at pictures and the continuing bad news pouring out, it just gets bleaker and bleaker. Some guy predicted a huge earthquake sometime next week, since California is on the opposite side of the "Ring of Fire". I don't even know what to think about that. I've been keeping up with Boston Globe's: The Big Picture for pictures to put with the articles from other sources.

*Remember that shit from Xanga or Live Journal? I always wondered if letting people know what I was listening to affected how they consumed my thoughts.

Well whatever. I have four Craigslist tabs, Gmail, and Blogspot open. I'm probably at the brokest that I've ever been in my life. Hence four Craigslist tabs. I don't stress about it though. Maybe at most 10 seconds. I wonder if anyone would reply to an ad if I offered ukulele lessons. That'd be cool.

I started this blog because I think a lot about things. Not really for anyone but myself. And after ten minutes from that last sentence I think I've compiled enough to make a coherent post.

I'm so glad I come back to SF with a box filled to the brim with frozen local food. And being as innovative and frugal that I am, I've stretched everything out to make it last as long as possible. A small half-hearted dream that I have is to own and run a plate lunch van at home. I think I'd name it "Eat It Up." Portuguese sausage, eggs, and rice? EASY. Healthy Chili (Zippy's chili w/ tofu and veggies)? SMART. Vegetarian miso butter fried rice? WHY NOT.

I have a girlfriend. Crazy ya? Despite the woes and shittiness of being broke, she is the best thing ever! Hahaha, so gay. She's in Hawaii. Whatever. I blame her for making me appreciate such good pop songs, like Bruno Mar's Just the Way You Are.

It's weird. Before I started this post I had all these negative thoughts that I wanted to let spill out. But then I started with two such positive things, food and Aurora, that I've forgotten what negative things I was thinking about. Despite the hail, clouds, my -$2668 debit account, my almost maxed out credit card, my hopeless job search, I don't mind right now. Probably because the rice just finished and I'm thinking about eating lau lau. I combined white and brown rice for the first time.

I don't know if you less than five people know that my tumblr gets updated automatically 3 times a day. Most of the pics are from my camera phone, but once in a while I'll post some like these. Good thing I got Flickr Pro!! (Thanks, Trish.)

I never thought of my self as musical before. But I seriously think that if I was stranded on some far away planet, all I'd want to take is my ukulele. Something musical. Like I'm not even being forced to bring only one object, I'd still only take my ukulele. I'd rather play music than play video games. I can play the same two chords over and over again for hours. I like playing before I go to sleep in the dark with my eyes closed. I play when I'm taking a shit. If I had a water-proof instrument, I'd play in the shower. I play when I get stressed out (which is what I did now, which is what sparked this post.) I don't think I'm good or anything, but I'll play if people wanna listen. I wish music was a interchangeable with money. I think my life would be much easier to live. I'll go play some more music now. Maybe I'll record something.

In San Francisco. Oh geez, what an eventful almost 3 weeks away. Ben and I both think that this has been the most developmental break eveeerrrrrrrrrrr. I feel so much closer to everyone. We all have different problems that we each think are the most important problems in the world, but I think they're kinda similar. We are all 20-something year-olds just being 20-somethings year-olds. Just thinking about it now, I don't even know what to start talking about. So I won't even attempt it and just let everything stew in my head.

This usually happens. I go home and don't go on the internet the entire time I'm there. I like it. I'm still obligated(to you?) to post my favorite music from 2010 though. Here are the:

Hmm, what should I say about these guys. I think I liked these guys a lot because of how loud they sound. Unless I'm trying to eavesdrop on somebodies convo on the bus, volume is always at the highest. Every time I these guys were playing I would half-think that my headphones were going to break. Sounding good added a lot too to why this was the first album that I wrote down when I started this list. I'd love to see these guys live. "Morning Sun" is the first song and my favorite.

Two Door Cinema Club - Tourist History

So fucking catchy. This entire is so fucking catchy. I honestly forgot to add the word "album" in the last sentence because I was so preoccupied with typing "so fucking catchy" (and I'm dumb). I love songs that make me undulate my body in rhythm and throughout the entire album nonetheless! I also love that the drummer bounces around like this seat is just a huge spring. Such good pop music. It's really hard for me to pick just one song but the clap at the beginning makes the whole album.

As much as I love catchy pop and heartfelt acoustics, I NEED music like Male Bonding's. Come on, I listened to Finch and Thrice in high school, gimme a break. Japandroids filled my void for "harder" music ever since they came out last year and these guys were a good refresher. The drummer is a beast; 'specially on the wood blocks!

No duhh, I'm putting this album on here! Not even 10 songs but it runs longer than an hour. Also, reportedly the last album by this group. Fuck that! There are so many things that make LCD Soundsystem songs good, I can't even begin to describe. Even though songs are long, I feel like I still wouldn't skip past them if they went on longer. I honestly like this album better than the last. I like how my favorite song is the last one. That usually doesn't happen.

You know, I didn't like this album when it first came out. I thought it was too over-produced and was too much of an "upgrade" from their first album. But when I got tired of some music on my mp3 player I added this album and I surprisingly didn't skip through any any of the songs when they came up randomly. So then I listened to album in its entirety a couple times through and now I like it. A lot. So strange ya?

I really like this band. It's when I'm tired of listening to Two Door Cinema Club or Male Bonding or stuff like that, I'll listen to The National. I dunno, they feel very neutral to me. The first song "Terrible Love" sounds strange to me because of its epicness. But the entire album gets pretty The National-ee after. I think it's cause of this whatever neutrality that spurs me to always think about things when I listen to them.

I fucking love KEXP. The thought of listening to this station in a car 24/7 almost makes me want to move to Seattle. They are constantly adding GOOD videos of GOOD bands. Their videos are the reason that I have a net of christmas lights, like the ones in the videos, on my wall. Only picking 5 was suuuper hard. But I guess that's why I like making these kind of end of the year lists in the first place.

These easily became a favorite at the beginning of the year. I hate them now but this song still gives me chills. They're so reminiscent of my emo/pop punk dayzzz. This song was on the top of Hype Machine for a while which is kind of strange for a non remix/trance/cover. This album came out in 2009 but I wanted them to be on a list so badly that I put them on here.

This guy is a beast. Azns and electronics. Did you catch that Nosaj is Jason spelt backwards? Probably not since only blind people and fools read my blog.

He writes good songs. He also sings very well. Doesn't this kid look just like Joseph Gordon-Levitt from 3rd Rock from the Sun?!

I kind of don't like that I like this song. I feel like such a sucker for getting chills when everything gets all epic. I think the main guy looks evil, the girl looks like a young Dolly Parton and I don't like that she sings with her hands on her hips, the other guy who points and claps looks like a d-bag wearing sunglasses indoors. Everyone else looks fine. If not for them I would probably flog myself for putting this video up.

The drummer is: old(er), singing, and twitches. This fucking song rules. I usually listen to it at least 5-6 times in a row. Probably because it's only two minutes long but that is besides the fact.

Ya, whatever this is the 6th video. I don't even know what to say about this. It's good. I like it. You like it.

If you're not trying to circumnavigate the entire city, walking in SF kinda rules. Take tonight for example.

I just came home from a friends house in the Western Addition(upper most black dot). It took about a half an hour, maybe a little more from getting something to eat from Safeway and according to Google, is just a hair above 3 miles. And I by no means would describe myself as a "walker," but it was a fucking pleasant walk. My mp3 player on shuffle was picking the perfect songs, I was wearing the perfect clothes to stay warm but still feel the cold, the amount of sketchy dudes were out numbered by the universal head knod of hospitality dudes, and I was SLIGHTLY drunk. Emphasis on "slightly" as to not discredit the pleasantness of the walk but I'm sure that it did help just a little. It's just nice to walk sometimes and tonight at 1am was one of those times.

I like his stuff even though I don't regularly listen to this kind of music. I think it may be because of this video of him using the SP 404. I(Kevin) have(has) this. It gives me a little inspiration to start trying to make full songs instead of whatever house beats.

My lack of any blogging is evidence to how stagnant things are right now. I'm at NJAHS right now being a lump on a log. Which I can be since I haven't gotten paid despite giving them an invoice last week. But I started unpaid so the few times that I do get paid seems more like a bonus.

I need a new job/jobs. Money buys comfort. Can't wait for 2011 already.

The Sutro Baths are pretty sick if you can imagine how grand it was in its heyday at the turn of the century. I mean turn of the 20th century because by saying "turn of the century" nowadays technically refers to the turn of the 21st century. Except that we don't say that and opt for "the 2000's" or whatever. I can't wait till saying, "turn of the century" starts referring to this century and not the last. Though by that time I'm sure I'll be dead. Well whatevers, I'm too lazy to talk about the baths, so click that link.

The only other time that I remember coming here was last summer when I was all alone and decided to take some pictures of the sun setting. I ended up leaving too late and didn't know how to use my camera very well so I just sat on a wall by myself and stared at the after-sunset sky. However, this time I was with Aurora and her(now my) friends and had ample time to use my photography master skills to shoot the shit out of the sunset.

I decided to space it out and post the pictures on my tumblr which is automatically updated once every 12 hours. I don't know if anyone has noticed since no one comes here, but now I use the tumblr way more than this blog. Also, as I'm sure all five of you who read this know, I deleted my facebook. As you can see from my almost constant updating of two blogs, I am a slave to the internet. Facebook was probably the biggest weight on my back so I had to get rid of it. I mean I got it right as it was getting big, when it was still only for college students and now I'm not in school anymore so I don't think that I need it. Four years is a good amount isn't it? That's way more than I spent on myspace and xanga combined. But ya, I'll digress on some other post.

Hi. It's Friday, so I'm at NJAHS right now. I moved to The Mission neighborhood of SF. My room is smaller and cheaper.

I don't have internet at the house so I've been pretty much been disconnected for the past 2 weeks. It feels very liberating. It makes me feel young not going on the internet every five minutes. It makes me remember what I used to do as a kid before computers. I still want internet badly though. In place of the internet I've been playing more music and walking around the neighborhood.

I crashed on my bike pretty bad. My knees and elbows looked like strawberries. I don't remember the last time I cursed so much while taking a shower. I'm glad I was wearing a helmet. The car behind me, the one that I was worried of running me over, stopped and gave me a ride home. They were nice. Getting all these cuts and wincing in pain from the peroxide made me feel young again. It reminded me of when I used to get scrapes like these all the time. I still hate wearing band-aids and would rather have my clothes rub against the wounds.

I still take pictures when I can.

I like thinking about things like this.

I traded it out of the register a couple of days ago at work. I always notice old bills when I'm working as a cashier, but this one was way different than any bill I've handled before. I thought it was fake. It was way too different.

This, of course, leads to an interesting history of US money. Its an interesting thought that the $20 bill did not intrinsically have any worth, but merely represented worth that existed somewhere else.

MY TUMBLR (it's like another blog, mom)

So I've had one for a while, I just never used it. But sometimes I just want to post one picture or video so I guess that's what I'll use it for.

My Wednesday, Thursday, and Fridays will be spent at NJAHS where I'm taking pictures of all these objects in the archives for this new database that we got. They're giving me some money so that's keewwwll. All I do is take museum-esque pictures all day. I've been aching for some new music and after a failed four cd buy from amazon (the card info was wrong so it didn't go through and I'm too lazy to do it again) I downloaded two albums today, one of them being Tokyo Police Club's new one: Champ. I remember totally jumping on the bandwagon freshman year and liking "Nature of the Experiment". With a name so catchy/hipster as theirs, I don't know how you can't. I think it was Tricia who introduced them to me and we saw them at the first (and last) Be the Riottt music festival. I never listened to their follow-up album (besides the singles), so I haven't really listened to them for a while. Like with many things, I don't really know how to explain why I like this more than their older stuff. They just sound better to me. I found a favorite on the first listen.

Man, I just woke up from a dream. I don't think I've ever thought that a dream was as real as the one I just woke up from. There were so many things that should've gave it away but I just wanted to believe it so badly.

So apparently, mom decided to buy me plane tickets to go back to Tokyo for like 4 days. She didn't say why but I think it was a gift for something. I thought it was pretty short but I didn't want to complain. So I'm back in Tokyo. Oh yeah, Ben is with me too. I think maybe another dude too; one of Ben's Japanese friends. So we're walking around some Tokyo neighborhood and we go into an arcade to play some games. Later, I find Ben and the other dude sitting at some table across of which are other Japanese dudes. I remember saying this, "Dude, we're getting fucked up. Nomisugitai." After I said that the other dudes across the table yelled some chant and hit the table, which I found out was a huge taiko drum. It was still sun out so we went back to whereever we were staying. I guess I had a car because I dropped them off and went to go look for parking. I guess I was kinda drunk too because I remember hitting things while parking. Anyways, I took too long and by the time I had parked, Ben had already left to go out again. Typical Ben. So this is when it gets confusing. I don't know how but I ended up going back home to Hawaii, like I drove home. I'm at home now and I'm like, "Oh, I gotta go back to Japan now." But I can't! I'm on a fucking island! And then mom is trying to tell me that the tickets that she bought for Japan aren't until 3 days! And then I tell her that I was just there a hour ago! And there were like 50 people in my house! I went to my room and packed my shit, thinking I'll just wait 3 days to go back. I was pissed at Ben.

And then I woke up from Kevin turning on the tv to watch the Germany vs Uruguay World Cup game. And then I realized that it was all a dream.

On a side note, I'd like to add that I've been having deja vu a lot recently, especially at work.

Woah, 2 weeks since my last post. Same 'ol stuff. Trying to sell some stuff to get a banjo. Once I do that, Hank will get a stand-up bass and we're gonna start our folky bluegrass band: Japanese Peas. I was so tempted to get a Guitar Center credit card a couple of days ago. No interest for 24 months! But then I remembered the evils of capitalism so I flogged myself for even thinking about getting another card.

At the request of Ben Tungol, Kim Harada, Felicia Wun, and Marissa Eshima, I made a 25 long mix of my favorite songs. Only one song per artist and has to have been a favorite for at least 2 years. It was fun going through my old cd's and trying to remember what I listened to at different stages of my adolescence. I found some fricking gems and I've been listening to it in its entirety at least once a day. I don't know how I'm going to share it. I've started writing notes for each song, but got lazy and am only half way done.

So a friend at work told me about this website creator thing: Wix. After playing around with the creator and watching some youtube videos I registered. Seems pretty legit, so I think I'm gonna try and make a photography website for myself. On my last day off of work, I looked at ALL of my pictures on my hard drive. ALL. Like, from when I first got this camera over a year ago. I got pretty nostalgic looking at all the Japan ones. So I decided to categorize my favorites by location: San Francisco, Hawaii, Japan, and Pacific Northwest. I plan to edit them to my liking on picnik. It'll probably take a while till I'm done. I don't even know what I'm making it for. I don't plan on getting pro or anything (even though my pictures are on the same level as a pro). A lot of times, when I really like a song, I imagine where it would be used in a movie. I'm just really imaginative like that. I see this being used while some dude is strolling through some brick-laden NY neighborhood with kids frolicking in a gushing fire hydrant and smiling elderly people. Or a scene with four dudes cruising in a car. Or the credits. I've just replayed it for the 12th time. The harmonies and horns are so classic. It makes me wanna jump into my car and drive with the windows down for three minutes . . . all I need is a license.

I'm on the plane going to Hawaii. I could type for days as there are so many things on my mind. Hope I don't forget anything.

So, I spent a couple day in Las Vegas for the first time as a legal gambler. It's too much. It was fun with my family and I bet just as fun to go with friends, but it's a fricking huge ass city in the middle of a desert for the sole reason of gambling. It's so evil!!!! I wonder if I'd still be this bitter if I hadn't lost so much money, but whatevers. It's on par with L.A., another city I don't like.

Mom always tells me that she runs into people in Vegas that she never sees at home. I was playing (losing) craps and heard someone yell my name. I turned around and it was fucking Mark Atta. We used to be super good friends in 8th grade before we went to different high schools. The last time I saw him was 8 years ago. Isn't that nuts that there are people out there who if I run into, that last that I will have seen them will have been almost a decade ago? It made me feel old and distant from all those dudes who I hung out with before I went to high school. I've actually been getting more and more friend requests on facebook from super old friends. You know what. Lemme change the subject to that.

Fuck facebook. I am totally addicted. It is the biggest waste of time in my life right now. I go on what seems like every five minutes to do literally nothing. The things that I do amount to nothing! I tell people what I think through my status or whatever link I post. I look at whoevers most recently uploaded album. I keep friendships with people through lame comments. I don't even contact some yet keep them as friends just in case. If you are a female that I have ever had a "thing" for then I guarentee that your page gets frequent visits from me. I've been keeping up with the Red Shirt protesters situation in Bangkok for a while. It is sad to say this, but putting it into context of many south east Asian countries (Central and South American ones too), this just seems so normal. This kind of shit always fucking happens: military coups, political unrest, corruption, blahblahblah. Not once did I have any hope for the protesters. I mean I wanted for everything to work out for them. And it was uplifting to hear about what they were trying to do. They were just trying to bring to light the shadiness and bullshit of the government. That's what everyone should be doing! But then all these things started happening, like watching a jenga tower fall in slow motion. It started out peacefully and now 80+ people are dead. I don't know, man. They just don't give a fuck. Maybe I'm still too naive, but it makes me so angry when these things happen the EXACT SAME way that a protest was fricking 50 years ago! Like I learn about the student protesters who died at Kent State in Ohio in the early 70's or revolutionaries in Nicaragua getting slaughtered by U.S. sponsored death squads in the 80's and you like to think that some progress was made. But then this shit happens and it's all the same. And it'll always be like that. If it's not happening here, it's happening somewhere else. IF anything, this only cements my opinion that . . . whatever, it is a negative opinion. I haven't done any ranting for a while. 'Scuse me.

I've started to use Youtube as more of a news source, mainly focusing on the homemade videos rather than the ones with accompanying commentary. I don't need them to tell me what to think!

No matter how much I complain about impractical and expensive film photography, I still get giddy when I walk home from wal greens, dodging old Chinese ladies and rancid puddles on Clement St., looking through a freshly developed roll of film. Tonight, I literally cursed aloud, when I came across ones that came out exactly how I wanted. I regularly check my bank account to see if I can spare the $10 or so to get one set with a cd. This roll had 36 exposures (super cheap on ebay ftw!), making it more expensive but with a coupon that I ripped out of the newspaper, it came out the same as if I only had 24 exposures. I think, something like that. Whatever.

Here are a couple from GREEN APPLE, MY FAVORITE BOOKSTORE IN SAN FRANCISCO. It rules. I try to go at least once a week, rarely buying anything, but staying for an hour or two, reading graphic novels or photog books. It's just so San Francisco. The people are super cool. The place is super cramped and you have to make sure not to knock over one of the many random piles of books stacked up all over the place. Brand new and used. It's small, yet easy to get lost in. It just rules.

Walking to class, I thought about how in my four years at USF only one non-family member has come to visit me. Chalsea came during her spring break freshman year. My SF pride kicked in and I thought, "What the hell! This place is soo cool. Why hasn't no one made the effort to come up!" The only times that I've been up to see night turn into day, to see the pitch blackness be slowly over taken by a blue tinge of light and then a thin streak of orange cut through the air like the knife through spam that I will be frying up pretty soon, has been when I attempt to stay up all night and complete whatever assignment/s I set out for myself. I usually doze off and awake with an arm or book drizzled in a little drool. I go to splash cold water on my face and by my 5th time doing this, I stare at the Microsoft word document displeased and worried.

I think I can turn this light off now as outside is getting brighter, slowly. Nope, it's still too dark. With the hum of the fridge and chirping of the birds, I rest my head back against this not-meant-to-be-sat-on-for-more-than-an-hour wooden dinner chair. I wonder who's awake upstairs. I hear footsteps. I hate them. I keep looking at the clock but want to stay here even though my bum is sore. These chairs are not good to slouch in. I'll go change out of these sweatpants, brush my teeth with my now what I think to be normal sized toothbrush, grab some little mandarin oranges and go to school. I wonder if I'll miss this.

For the next almost two months, I will be spending as much time as I can not sitting in my chair in my room. Not the exact same, but the closest looking one after googling "Ikea chair cloth", pictured above is the most technologically advanced chair in the world. If you sit in it with a laptop connected to the internet, it will, through electromagnetic waves, transmit every fucking topic/subject/point of interest into your head to look for through the interweb. It tailors what it sends depending on the person sitting in the chair. I'm not sure what other people get but every single time that I sit in that chair I read manga, watch/listen to music, edit pictures, read the interesting current events, blog and facebook. NOTHING ELSE. Having said that, it is the perfect chair for doing anything BUT SCHOOL WORK. My own stupidity might keep me from graduating on time, so from now on, I will stay at school as much as possible to get stuff done. My room was never a productive place for me, even in the dorms. Right now, I'm in the atrium where I will probably be till dawn. No more blogging and no more facebook again. If school was a person and we were in the 3rd grade and he invited me to his birthday at Discovery Zone, I would decline. This is how much I hate school.

This credit card is nuts. It never goes down. I haven't used it at all in forever. It is physically impossible for me to use it as it is broken in half and I refuse to get a new one. Mainly because of past plane tickets to Japan, it is almost at the max of $2,500. What if a college education just isn't for everyone?

Hmm, just lemme get some thoughts out of the way so that I don't ramble on later.

People should to go school after high school to learn about something that they're interested in. Not to make money.
Higher education is too expensive. Why should people get put into debt because they want to learn more?
Nevermind. These bullet points just make me more confused.

Anyways,

I read this article while changing out the newspapers at the library and it sparked off a lot of things in my head. Seeing as how I sometimes think about things too much, I often dwell on my shittyness as a student. I am a bad student. I am not good at school. I still try to cram or finish homeworks five minutes before class starts just like how I used to do early in the morning in the 7th grade, when things school first got "hard". I used to cheat all the time in high school and think back to the nostalgic days of copy and paste essays. Now in college, I turn things in late and try to pull as much things out of my bum as I can during tests. I am not good at school. BUT, that doesn't mean that I don't like to learn.

If I could have constructed my college curriculum, at a school that had every possible class ever, in a way that would make me a good student, I'd take a bunch of Asian and American history, Chinese, Korean and Japanese language, probably some sociology and anthropology, basic politics and economics, some philosophy, shallow theology courses, and photography and music make is more artsy. Also, maybe some science, like meteorology or evolutionism. No math. No speech bullshit classes. No ethics. No business. No literature or English classes.

The longest paper that I will have to write for whatever class will be 5 pages, including the title page and bibliography. And the principal way of figuring out my grade will be through deep one on one convos with the teacher and a machine that will attach itself to my head that analyzes how much of information I have truly absorbed and understand.

This is the best free online photo editing program ever. I don't really use online programs but I have used some: Picnik is way better than rest. I like editing my pictures, but I don't go all out nuts with Photoshop or anything. All I use is Google's Picasa software to adjust contrast or lighting, maybe crop it, sometimes add obviously-edited effects. It's easy, whatevers. Picnik can do the same, but you have more control with the settings and you don't have to download it. It also has more effects as can be seen by my three favorites above. It's super easy to use and I feel that I may start using it more than Picasa. It's perfect for wasting time that should be used for more important things.

Mom sent this to me. I might as well do it seeing as how I'm working at the library right now for $11 an hour. Brings me back to old Myspace days when all people did were these surveys.

I think my heart is racing. Maybe it's because I just came back from a horror/zombie movie and I rarely watch scary movies as I do not know how to not vocalize what I think as some idiot puts his face too close to window (I can't stfu). But I think it has more to do with this Adbusters article.

The Coming Barbarism

Adbusters isn't a periodicals that I read regularly. To be honest, I'm kind of put off/intimidated by how counter-culture it is. Put off/intimidated in that I know that I would never be able to whole heartedly believe in what they say. I agree with them and wish I could, but I know that I will never be able to do it. It's just really hard for me to be anit-consumerist and exercise my rights as a citizen of a democratic society, so I don't even try. Or at least, I don't consciously try. I'm not a Captain Planet villain. Saying that, whenever I do read an Adbusters' article, I eat that shit up. I am super easy to influence and when you're speaking about something as passionately as they in do Adbusters, I will support you 1000%.

It basically says that the future, Generation Y, my generation, has to potential to fuck shit up. Due to the economic recession and the reality of uncertain futures (and other stuff), "we are the greatest threat to capitalist civilization." So hmmm, where should I start. . .

I am the youngest person at my internship and I regularly converse with the other elderly staff members. Two of them would be considered "baby boomers" and were super into all that 60's and 70's stuff. Well anyways I don't know how we got to this subject, but both of them apologized for how shitty everything is now. It was strange for me to hear such a sincere apology from an older person. They were saying how they fought for civil rights and equality when they were younger, but they leave with their kids, who are already adults, needing to go back to school to learn a new vocation. They said how when they were younger, if they ever lost a job, there was always another one waiting for them, but now there are just none. How actually owning the land that their house was on was an actual possibility, but according to the Michael Moore movie on capitalism, it'll almost be impossible for me to do that (don't ask why, it just is.)

I have a lot of thoughts what the effects of the recession will be but I have none about what to do now in the mean time. I dunno. Like I never really went to school for a career, I just wanted to learn more about stuff. So now that I'm graduating and there aren't any jobs, it's not like I'm super bummed or anything. I just don't know what to do. "storm and occupy whatever political and economic space"? I dunno, maybe I'll post some more about this later.

Here's a tumblr that I stumbled upon. It basically lists (currently at #91) things that America(ns) should be sorry for. Like when you're in a history class and you learn that they sent Japanese Americans to internment camps while at the same time sending them to the front lines of Europe as disposable soldiers. Or that for forty years, about 400 impoverished African-Americans with syphilis were monitored as a medical study and not given penicillin after it was proven to be the cure. And there's other stuff like mega conservatives and blind faith radicals. So at first, I was pretty angry. It just reminded me as to why I have certain opinions on certain things. But as I looked through all 91, reading the ones that sounded interesting, it became more and more amusing. Like japanophiles, hipsters, and emo, all three of which I have been called by someone at one point in my life. Or Creed. Or extreme advertising.

Honestly and literally: America rules.

I haven't been taking any pictures lately. I have been doing a lot of thinking as per use. Just about random stuff.

What to do after graduation. If I should quit Levi's. If SF Police should get tasers. Will this generation be affected the same by the recession as in Japan when their bubble burst in the 1990's. What to do when Micah them come at the end of the month. Which girl do I like more. If people will live longer because of advances in technology and medicine or shorter/same because of our dependence on artificial chemicals and always evolving diseases.

I dunno, stuff like that.

I'm not even trying to think about spring break as I have to do a lot of stuff before then. Now enjoy these songs.

I walked around the library today and noticed that almost every little study cubicle had somebody in it. Maybe I'll share some things that have kept my attention while trying to get work done.

The One Who Got Away

This was pretty intense, especially with the captions. I like to think that maybe I had some kind of similar experience as these people. But at the same time, I don't want to think about it at all.

Superman: Red Son

I think that I've read almost all of the graphic novels that USF's library has to offer. This one's a new addition. "What if Superman had been raised in the Soviet Union?" is basically what this answers. I don't usually read DC but I thought that this was pretty good.

Japan Robot Nation

This distracted me from reading a couple of days ago and I've already posted this on facebook, but I'll post it again because I want everyone to watch it. I thought it was super interesting as I've never heard or seen a Japanese person touch the subject of racism. I guess I liked it too because it has to deal with a lot of stuff that I've learned about Japan and I liked saying, "I knew that!" every 10 seconds.

I am also on ebay all the freaking time, looking at camera stuff. A lot of times I'll bid on something at a super low price, just in case nobody else comes upon it. Right now, I am the first and only bid on 4 rolls of Fujifilm, 24exp and 100 iso. Five dollars including shipping if no one else bids in the next 20 hours.

I was at work today, being my normal friendly self, when I rang up a girl from Germany. I was just making the usual tourist small talk like, How long have you been in San Francisco? How do you like it? Etc. Etc. I learned that she was the same age as me, 21, and she has been in the United States for about 4 months traveling all around America, alone. I asked her if it she ever felt not safe being alone, but she said not really. I was surprised when she told me her age and I said that I was very jealous of her. She said I should do it as well, travel around my own country. Before she left I told her that she was really lucky.

I think that I used the wrong word. I didn't even know her, yet I said she was lucky. As if her being able to travel was due to luck and my inability to travel due to my own bad luck. How do I know that she didn't have to give up something to travel for four months. Or maybe she been saving up since she was a little kid. It was my own spite that lightning-fast labeled her as lucky. Saying that seemed to reassure me, make me feel more compliant with everything. Like how some people find $20 on the ground, I just wasn't that person. But then, during the rest of my shift I kept thinking that luck has nothing to do with it. If I want to fucking travel all over the place, I can fucking do that.

So on the bus ride back, I figured out my future. A future that has been added to growing list of "Possible Futures For Jacob." Just crossed off that list was "Get into JET and live in Japan until I can't renew contract." This new one is pretty simple. Stay in SF after graduation, keep internship @ NJAHS, save money by 1: living in cheaper place 2: have two jobs, get out of debt, get tesol/tefl certificate, keep studying Japanese and Chinese, learn Korean. I figure I'd do this for a while. I guess all the way up until I'm doing what I want to do.

And these are the only ones that came out from our show last last night. I don't think I've said this before on here but I use a cheap zone-focus point and shoot, Konica C35 EF3. I got it from either Goodwill or Salvatioin Army for $5. All previous posts with film pictures and the ones on my flickr were taken with this camera. When I'm not paying attention to how many pictures I've taken, I tend to force the film advance lever, thereby ripping the sprocket holes on the film. This fucks everything up. Anyways.

Here are the only ones that I could get in focus on my new rangefinder, Petri.

I'm at my internship.

Lemon Party is playing a show tonight @ El Rio in the Mission at 10. This will be our second show. Kinda nervous for many reasons. It'll be fun. I'll take pictures.

I've realized that if I ever get a real job, it can't be one where I am in front of a computer as my undiagnosed ADHDHDHADD always gets the best of me. This makes me look at teaching more favorably.

Cheapest bestest meal is a block of soft tofu with shoyu, tabasco and furikake. Straight out of the container. Only ninety-nine cents and gets me full.

It was supposed to be sunny today. I'm wearing shorts and freezing.

Oh shit, Sasuke versus Kakashii.

I guess I have to get back to work now.

Or I can lie and say that I'm done . . .

Double Exposed

I picked up prints from wal greens today and found almost all of it double exposed. I guess I thought wrong when I put it in thinking it was brand new. It took me a while to figure out when they were from, but I think they're from Thanksgiving as I remember the scenery from the drive. Some look like they were even before that, at our first Lemon Party show. I don't remember when that was. Since I couldn't really get a good look at what I shot, I didn't really get what I wanted out of the roll as it was a test roll for my new camera . . .

Ya, a couple of days ago I bought an old rangefinder camera from the Salvation Army around the corner and these pics are from the first roll; the Petri 7 s. I can never leave a thrift store without buying something. I have no self-control. It was only $20 and everything seems to be working properly. It's from the 70's and came with its own leather case! It has a 45mm f/1.8 lens, with a maximum aperture of f/16. Shutter 1-1/500 second and the light meter still works. Doesn't need batteries or anything! It is so fucking cool. Hopefully, the next roll will give me a better look at how sharp it is.
